SSAFA PROVIDES A PUBLIC HEALTH FOCUSED HEALTH VISITING SERVICE ACROSS BRITISH FORCES CYPRUS. WE AIM TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE CARE AND SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY NEEDS

Health Visitors are trained nurses with specialist training in family and community health. We deliver the Healthy Child Programme to all entitled families with one or more children under 19.We work in Partnership with Voluntary and Statutory Agencies to ensure that every child has an opportunity to achieve the Every Child Matters five outcomes, which are:

        • Being healthy
        • Staying safe
        • Enjoying and achieving
        • Making a positive contribution
        • Achieving economic wellbeing

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To empower and enable child & family to be confident and  competent in the management of their child’s health needs.

YOUR HEALTH VISITOR'S ROLE

  1. All families with a child under five will have a named Health Visitor.
  2. Your Health Visitor will meet you within 4 weeks of arrival to discuss and assess your family’s health needs.
  3. They will identify a programme of care and provide this care in order to promote the health of your child. If necessary you may be referred to other Health Professionals, with your consent. e.g. your GP. 
  4. Health Visitors lead the health promotion activities at the Health Zones across the Island. Child Health Clinics
    are run from these community venues.
  5. The Health Team will work together to ensure your family is given the best possible level and quality of care.
  6. Your Health Visitor can also give your child their necessary immunisations.
  7. Your Health Visitor will liaise with you to undertake your child’s developmental assessments.
  8. The Health Visitors also run SSAFA's Health Zones offering a 'one stop' access to Health Visiting Services.

HEALTH VISITORS & PREGNANCY

ANTE-NATAL CARE

Your Health Visitor will see you before you are due to give birth. Some women may require additional Health Visiting
before birth.  Your Midwife will identify any needs and liaise with the Health Visitors to ensure you receive the necessary care. 

POST-NATAL CARE

Your care will be transferred from your midwife to your Health Visitor a few weeks after you have given birth. They work closely together to ensure you receive optimum, consistent care.
